(CNN) -- A rabbi walks into St. Peter's Square, meets the pope, and tells the Holy Father that one way to defuse the sex abuse scandal plaguing the church is for the Vatican to begin promoting a secular version of Shabbat dinner, the traditional Jewish Friday meal.


It's no joke.


A prominent American rabbi, Shmuley Boteach, spoke briefly to Pope Benedict XVI on Wednesday about encouraging parents to eat dinner with their children as a way for the Vatican to re-establish its pro-family image, which has been battered by the priest sex abuse scandal, Boteach said.

I make it a point to eat dinner as a FAMILY 4 or 5 nights a week. No one gets to answer the phone, read, watch TV, ect. This is our time to talk about our day and work out any issues. And besides, I make a hot multi-course meal every single night so they better sit there, be quite, and enjoy my hard work!!! (lol) But about the priests and anything re: the catholic church, I must adhere to mom's advice "If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all". Right with ya JimBob!

At the State Hospital in S FL,in 1980/81.
My title was Unit Treatment & Rehab Specialist,with/thru the Health & RehabilitativeServices Dept of the State of FL.A grand title for a then it was a ten grand a yr salary.Tho the St Psychiatrist was only making 15 grand a yr .there.
I worked the male ward 98% of the time;the female ward ,I was always to be accompanied by another staff person,so they could claim impropriety,but the facts were we were never alone with the females,as Im male.The catholic church could institute such a protocol to keep themselves out of trouble ,is what Im saying here.
While there,I took & passed the State nursing exam,the same the R Ns,& L PN s have to take to get their state license.So,I have whats called a Medication Administration Certificate thru the St of FL//
I could say I was treated for Low Testosterone 5 yrs back,its the only legitimate reason to prescribe testosterone.Further,its the guys with hi testosterone that get into trouble,various sports atheletic types/Jocks if you will.

I'll say anything else, nice or otherwise: it's going to take far more than family dinners for the Catholic church to address the damage it has done to children, in the past and as it assuredly continues now. The Pope was an abettor and needs to come clean to begin the process of cleansing his own feet, as it were. Admitting women to priesthood and allowing marriage might go a long way too.

The best answer to pedophilia that I've heard about recently is called PRISON, service to be performed among the regular population. They believe in Hell, let them live it. That Rabbi is delusional and living in a world where the sky is multicolored. And yes, all of this applies to any religion whose clergy abuses their position of authority and power over others. Following in such a religion as an adherent and not demanding action is a truly an act of blind faith.

I will agree with this. Anyone outside the clergy would already be doing time. Why do they get off?
