(CNN) -- In his youth, Ronald Lindsey planned to enter the priesthood, so fervent was his devotion to God. But these days, Lindsay is devoted to protecting a person's right to ridicule, criticize -- even lambaste God.....

Outraged by nations that want to execute blasphemers and propelled by a deep belief in the freedom of expression, Lindsay is forging ahead with his "nothing is sacred" movement. Wednesday marks the first organized observance of Blasphemy Day, a series of events, exhibits and lectures unfolding in a host of mostly North American cities that are part of a larger To view links in this forum your post count must be 10 or greater. The day coincides with the fifth anniversary of a Danish newspaper's publication of controversial cartoons about Mohammed. The depictions of the prophet wearing a bomb as a turban with a lit fuse sparked protests by Muslims worldwide and prompted media outlets to censor themselves.

But to Lindsay, a society is not truly free unless people can freely air their views on any subject -- including God.

Hi Rake,

I do hold to the concept of freedom of speech/expression. However, I also hold to the concept of respect. Not all Muslims are terrorists - only a very small minority are.

So to dispaly a negative without displaying a positive is not playing the game fair.

By expressing your freedom of speech by bashing some group of people unfairly, I think, is counter-productive.

Peace & Love!

I pretty much agree on the freedom of expression principle, but, come on,

Which God are we talking about here?

I wouldn't want to upset one of the modern ones. I mean, They have agents in the field.

You have to be careful you know.

If I get trashed by an agent on a magic carpet, will I get carted off to valhalla on the back of a

horse by my Gods agent?

ps I'll subscribe to any God that runs a pub and does food.

Ah well, you see.

Lack of a subscription probably means you'll have to walk home.

As for me, I'm getting a lift on a horse, behind a bird with big tits and horns on her helmet.

Rainbow blasphamy:

Martin Luther said people should come to God thru love, not fear.

Seems the Pope was ready to start another crusade,& there was no separation of church and state so... he could send his crew in to "appropriate the resources to finance the crusade, including manpower/the draft.

The German princes got behind Martin Luther, even tho they ended up fighting the 30 yrs war, resulting in all of us having the right to also be protestants. It also resulted in our getting the bible in the common language, his was German,ie,the Guttenburg Bible;60 yrs later the church of England followed on same precepts, published the King James version; arrrgh, such Heresies!!
PS,The Catholic stance at the time was :them that aren t with me are against me".meaning moslems were the anti christ!

God is a big boy. He can take a joke. If his/her/its followers can't take a joke then f@#% them.

I want to see Mithra, Jesus, and Krsna in a cage match! Thor can't be in it, he cheats and uses the hammer too much.

Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional.

A cult is a religion with no political power.

If you're gonna leave Thor out then Loki needs to be in on it even if it's just for the humor factor.
