I threw the kite up in the air, the wind would catch it for a few seconds, then it would come crashing back down to earth. I tried this a few more times with no success. All the while Karen is watching from the kitchen window, muttering to serself how men need to be told how to do everything. She opens the window and yelled to me, "You need a piece of tail." I turned with a confused look on my face and said, "Make up your mind.

You'll love this and its so easy!

Clean the brussel sprouts by slicing off the bottoms and removing any discolored leaves, if there are any. Preheat the broiler.

IF they are large you may want to cut them in half, I like them whole but sometimes they are too large for that. When you have the choice, choose the smaller ones, more tasty!

Steam them till tender.

After they are steamed I toss them with olive oil, enough to cover them, tamari, and sesame seeds, as much as you like. I use, I don't measure, a visual gauge. Sometimes I will add powdered garlic, this is optional.

I then broil them, constantly watching them so they do not burn and tossing them so all sides are exposed to the fire. Some of the leaves might char but you want a browned look to them.

Done! They are great at room temperature and I have had people who are not fans of brussel sprouts just love them!

Enjoy! :yaho:

You have known a person for years. You have shared with each other your greatest joys and your deepest fears. You live hundreds of miles from each other yet you are closer than anyone else you know. Out of the blue this person begins to act differently. They finally tell you to simply leave them alone. Not understanding or remotely being able to comprehend why, you blame yourself. Finally you get them to tell you and discover that they have breast cancer. They have always outwardly been a very strong person but you know that they are alone and alone in the fight.

For those who grow them, this is the time of year to start drying the herbs, if you haven't been doing so already. I have lavender, sage, oregano, mint, and chamomile drying. I thought it might be great to have a thread devoted to giving tips by different people regarding how people have gone about the drying and storage of the herbs.

For me, I dry them on window screen, blocked up for airflow, inside and out of the direct sunshine. First, I remove the leaves and put them in a single layer on the screen. I check them every few days, until a leaf will crumble easily. Then I give it three extra days.

The herbs are then put in air tight jars (empty baby food jars are ideal), labeled, capped, then put in a cool dry place. Light and moisture do a number on herbs. In the first case, light quickly robs them of flavor and aroma, and in the second, they can mold easily.

Does anyone else have a favorite way, or comments/questions?

I am reading a new and interesting book. I am really enjoying it, the book really resonates with my spirit.
Becoming Like God: Kabbalah and Our Ultimate Destiny

Michael Berg, editor in chief of Kabbalah Magazine, offers an easy-to-digest manual on becoming like God. Drawing upon the traditional teachings of the Kabbalah, Berg shows readers how to overcome the ego nature, which the ancient texts name as the "desire to receive for the self alone." Throughout the book, Berg uses the metaphor of imprisonment, claiming that most of us are confined in a jail of pain, suffering and death. Our job is to escape, which means conquering the evil prison guard (ego). Berg's amazingly Buddhist-like teachings offer enticing motivation for taking on this powerful opponent. Who wouldn't want fight ego and become like God with an "infinite payload of health, joy, and life" (which Berg claims is our birthright)? The key to this jailbreak, according to Berg, is to stop looking out for oneself, and starting looking out for the needs of the collective. This book may not tell you everything you want to know about accomplishing this new life mission, but it is an inspiring primer. --Gail Hudson

In his continuing work to demystify and teach the ancient, esoteric texts of Kabbalah, Michael Berg suggests that the time is right for people to break free of "ego nature" and achieve total joy and immortality: in other words, to "become like God." Advising ruthless honesty about human life — its pain, suffering, and death — and then providing an escape plan based on those truths, Berg uses the tools of Kabbalah — such as the Zohar, the key text of the discipline — as well as the collective energy of all the individuals sharing this path to help form that critical mass that will allow everyone to realize their true, joyous nature. Becoming Like God gives readers the methodology to be applied at every moment to destroy ego, begin transformative sharing, and create a path to realize their true, godlike nature.
People who spend their time studying about how to cast spells and "control" natural forces would be better off studying about scientific discoveries and how to solve the really serious problems that face us today.
So why do people spend their time and energy studying wicca and any other form of paganism ?

I have been going through a heck of a time here of late. Money problems, problems with travel, problems with accomplishing some goals I have had for myself. Many of you know of some of these woes.

Something very unexpected happened 3 days ago. I was in the local GoodWill store. I go into the thrift stores pretty regularly looking for odds and ends for the studio or for my alter.

As I was walking down the aisle I saw something that caught my eye. There on the shelf sat one of those statues that many people use for their alters. They go for about 50 dollars on the internet. This was one of Freya and they had it marked for $3.99. Although I usually follow the Celtic pantheon, Freya, Thor, Loki, and Odin have always had a special place in my heart. This statue had her in her feathered robe with her cats at her feet and her magickal necklace. I picked it up and sat it down at least twice. When I finally went to the register with it, it wouldn't take my card and they had to phone it in.

I took it home and placed it on top of my computer desk. I'm not trying to be overly imaginative here, but suddenly my luck started turning around. Unexpected doors began opening for me and things began to come together.

Was it luck? Coincidence? Or Deity blessing me and sending me a message?
Dunno but I ain't arguing with it either!
